Coach Support Worker Award

Congratulations to Joe Allington, who has recently achieved his ‘Coach Support Worker’ Award, the first level of the National ECB Coach Education Programme. Joe is one of the ‘Senior Members’ of Frenchay Falcons, who has also represented Gloucestershire. Great commitment Joe, and looking forward to seeing you helping the Falcons develop their skills and have lots of fun playing cricket.

Frenchay Flames Indoor Season

Congratulations to the Frenchay Flames who have just finished their indoor season. They were runners-up by just 5 points. Go to the Youth section to see the table & results. Great effort now for the outdoor season.

Supporting the Coaches of the Youth teams

The Club is always on the lookout for Parents willing to help with the large number of Youth Teams we have, particularly in supporting the Lead Coach.

There will be two opportunities at Frenchay for potential Volunteers to get some experience to help develop their Coaching knowledge during April. These are: –

•             The GCB are putting on a ‘Coach Support Workers’ (CSW) Course (1st level of ECB based training) on Sunday 24th April. This is a Six Hour Course run by a GCB Tutor (9.30 to start at 10.00 – 4.00) for anyone aged 16+, and provides ‘Game based Practices’, ‘Warm-up’ and ‘Cool down’ Drills etc, aimed at supporting the Lead Coach working with a Group; the cost of this is £30.00 per person, and up to 16 people per Course. The Club has agreed to reimburse any Parent who attends this Course and commits to helping a Group as much as possible this coming season. Places on the Frenchay CSW course can be booked online by clicking on the following link:- http://www.clubpay.co.uk/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=31635  The deadline for securing a place is Sunday 13th March, following which any places left will be offered to other Cricket Clubs;

•             DFCA Coaching (Damian Forder) are running a ‘Parent Helper’ Course at Frenchay on Tuesday evening 19th April (6.30 – 8.00) aimed at giving ‘volunteers’ a little bit of help in some ‘Games’ that can be used in training; the Course is ‘Free’.

For the Coach Support Worker Course, a booking must be made using the above on-line link, and in both cases, can you please let Sally know  bycl@blueyonder.co.uk  if you would like to take part in one (or both?).

u12 Girls league

The u12 girls have just completed their in door league season finishing a creditable joint 3rd in the league. Go to “youth” then “u12 Girls Indoor league” to see their results, scorecards, table and a round-up of the season. Well done girls !!!

Frenchay on Tour

Everyone at the club wish four of our older girls, Emily Wilkins, Emily Locke, Naima Milhofer and Nat Wraith a great time as they jet off to Sri Lanka in a party of young Gloucestershire players for a cricketing (and life) experience among the cricket mad communities of that Island. Do us proud girls and score plenty of runs and take many wickets but above all enjoy this wonderful opportunity.

Great breaking news !!!!

We have been notified by Sport England that they will fund a feasibility study up to 1.5K to look at the flooding issues we have with the bottom part of the 1st team pitch. Depending on the the study there could be a further 50k – 65k  available to rectify the issue. Congratulations to Alan Payne for leading the application and thanks to all members who assisted with information and support.
