Now that we are settled into 2017, the management committee thought it was important to share with you all, a few important things that have happened over the winter and also a reminder of forthcoming events: –
New Pavilion Project
- Our appointed architects have received a positive response to the plans from South Gloucestershire Council, following ‘Pre Application’ discussions with the Planning Department.
- Sport England have suggested that Frenchay are in a good position to receive ‘Section 106’ funding from house-builders building new developments in the area
Drainage Project
- A survey was carried out early last year, the contractor provided a feasibility report and budget costs to carry out improvement works.
- Sport England have approved the report and allocated funding of approx £75,000.
- The project is currently out to tender, with a commencement date planned for late summer 2017
Senior Cricket
- Pre-season training will commence on Tuesday 17th January, 8.30 – 10.00pm, at Fairfiled Grammar School, Allfoxton Rd, BS7 9NL.
- At the AGM members voted to abolish the annual membership fee, and instead incorporate this in weekly match fees
- Emails have been received from several prospective new players and we look forward to welcoming them to nets.
- Each team is going to be responsible for organising and running a social event in 2017
Youth Cricket
- Winter training kicks off in early Feb – look out for a separate communication with specific details.
- Twenty Two of our Youth Team players have earned places in the Gloucestershire CCC winter training squads.
- Nat Wraith has been included in the Western Storm Development squad.
- Naima Milhofer, Maisie Hunkin & Lily Knox have been selected for the Gloucestershire Cricket Board Emerging Players Programme.
Safeguarding our Youngsters
- The club remain committed to continuing to be a safe, friendly and secure place to play and visit
- Whilst we are confident that the procedures we have in place are satisfactory, following guidance from the ECB we are currently undertaking a full review and will adopt any measures deemed necessary.
Forthcoming Events
- Cricketforce Weekend – 1st and 2nd of April – Time to get the club ready for the 2017 season
- Frenchay Sport Open Day – Sat 22nd April.
As a committee we are very pleased with the positive messages that came from the both the AGM and the subsequent players meeting, and we looking for to continuing to build momentum towards the start of the season
